I absolutely love Purex Crystals because they leave your clothes smelling delicious. I knew that Purex Crystals for Baby would smell equally amazing, but I was worried about using it on my children’s clothes because they both have highly sensitive skin due to eczema (my son’s eczema being worse than my daughters). I trust Purex with my children’s laundry. I have been using their free and clear UltraPacks to wash Pea’s clothes for over 1 year and it has been a good experience. Her flair ups were really bad with regular detergent and with the free and clear UltraPacks they have diminished greatly (no lie). Her brother, though, has major patches everywhere (thank you altitude and dryness) and so I was worried.
Using something gentle on C.J’s clothes is very important to me and the bottle does say that Purex Crystals for Baby is 87% natural, dye free and hypoallergenic. So I gave it a shot. You can use this with the baby detergent of your choice, simply toss it in the wash at the beginning prior to adding the clothes.
I do have to say that the scent is long-lasting. I have a basket of clothes that I washed one week ago sitting nicely in C.J.’s room and his clothes still smell fresh. Pea’s skin seems to be holding up very well by adding this to her wash, but I have noticed new flare ups on C.J. and I’m not sure if its just his eczema doing what it does or irritation to something new in his wash. So, for the time being, I haven’t been using it for him anymore, only for Pea. (I am not saying that this causes rashes, I’m just saying that I’ve noticed a change in his skin- which could be anything) I’ve never had trouble with Purex products and eczema in the past, so I’ll hold on to this and maybe when he is a bit older I will try again with him.
